Providence Health & Services Certified Nursing Assistant II in Seward, Alaska
Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) II (Swing Bed, Variable, 0.9 FTE) to Providence Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. In this position you will:
Possess knowledge of the Hospital and National Patient Safety Goals: Uses at least two ways of identifying patients, name and date of birth. Uses hand cleaning guidelines, before and after patient contact. Exercises all preventative measures in patient fall prevention. Participates in quality improvement related initiatives.
Communicate effectively and works collaboratively with the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues, family issues, MD issues, equipment, and dietary needs to ensure team success. Communicates in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors.
Assist in the patient admitting, transfer, and discharge procedure. Transports patients via wheelchair and stretcher.
Check and restock supplies and emergency equipment and replaces as instructed. Maintains and operates multiple pieces of equipment in a safe and effective manner to improve patient care.
Measure and records vital signs, weights, bowel records, meal and fluid intake, admission paperwork, and other required documentation in the electronic medical record. Reports changes observed in patients to the Nurse in a timely manner.
Assist with and/or performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training. Provides range of motion exercises as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training.
Prepare and serve meals, between meals, bedtime and other nutritional snacks per posted menu and stated preferences of the patient. Responsible for following all food safety rules (ServSafe), monitoring and documenting refrigerator, freezer and dish machine temperatures. Maintains and monitors inventory in kitchen, and orders food as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
Current State of Alaska CNA certification
New CNA graduates and candidates that hold a current, unencumbered nurse assistant certification or registration from another U.S. state must obtain the State of Alaska certification within 4 months of hire
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Current ServSafe food handlers’ certification within 4 months of hire
6 months of health care experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
High School graduate or GED
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
