Providence Health & Services CNA - LTC Nursing in Seward, Alaska
Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant (Full-Time/Variable Shift) to Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Check in patients and takes vital signs. Assist health care providers in examining room if needed. Set up special trays and supplies. Order sutures and arranges medical supplies, and keeps them stocked. Give tests order by physician: eye test, audiograms, tympanograms, urine tests, etc. Sends test results to patients and keeps up recall file on special tests (papsmear, mammograms, etc) as directed by physician or physician assistant, order immunizations and keep records of immunizations for patient record, PHN, and State of Alaska. Clean exam rooms after each patient encounter.
Sterilize instruments and records resterilization of instruments as needed. Answer phone calls. Call in prescriptions to pharmacy. Complete patients request forms for lab work, X-ray, etc. Updates special patients records: Due date, Blood type, l Lab work. Investigates overdue reports. Keep other nurses and team members informed of changes. Assists with front-office procedures and functions, as nursing time allows. Assist receptionist with scheduling of clinics. Prepare and assist with meals and assists patients with A.M. care as needed
Accurately document patient complaint and vitals. Accurately enters data into the computer information systems registering patients in ER.
Collaborate to ensure team success. Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills in communications with patients and others. Utilize available resources. Recognizes errors/problems and takes corrective action. Ensure smooth, efficient clinic services and maximizes comfort and confidentiality for the customer. Anticipate and prioritizes workflow and adjust work assignments to prevent delays and meet work flow demands. Assist with problems resolutions.
Complete work accurately and timely. Work with team to achieve a wide range of department specific duties and activities to maintain maximum productivity. Is self directed and displays initiative to maintain personal productivity and flexibility.
Actively participate in Q.I. program by identifying opportunities, and recommending solutions. Maintain knowledge of all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Perform competencies as identifies by the Competency Focused System process.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Successful completion of a state-approved nursing assistant course.
Must hold a current State of Alaska CNA certification.
New CNA graduates and candidates that hold a current, unencumbered nurse assistant certification or registration from another U.S. state must obtain the State of Alaska certification within four (4) months of employment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Six (6) months experience as a nurse aide, nursing assistant or private care-giver.
