Providence is calling a Lodge Cook (LTC Dietary, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. In this position you will:
Under the direction of the Registered Dietitian and Dietary Services, prepare and serve meals and snacks per the posted menu and stated preferences of the Resident.
Prepare foods for therapeutic menus according to dietetic specifications. Ensure all food safety rules are followed (ServSafe) by monitoring and documenting refrigerator, freezer, and dish machine temperatures.
Serve meals to residents, follows portion control standards and follows physician diet orders. Is knowledgeable of resident allergies and preferences. Document meal substitutions.
Be responsible for recording food temperatures at each meal, per industry standards.
Be responsible for product receiving, stocking, rotation, dating, date checking and cleanliness of kitchen and food storage areas.
Properly clean and sanitize related work area according to sanitary procedures and documents completion.
Adhere to the safety requirements for daily operations. Maintain knowledge of emergency response protocols for residents and staff. Maintain a safe, comfortable and attractive environment.
Alert Lodge Nursing Staff of changes in resident status. Documents care and interactions as required.
Participate in all department team meetings and education opportunities.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
2 years experience in quantity food preparation required, including knowledge of hot and cold food preparation
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA), RQI, upon hire or the ability to accomplish within thirty (30) days of date of hire
State of Alaska food handler permit or the ability to attain certification upon hire
Completion of State of Alaska approved feeding assistance program within six (6) months of hire
ServSafe certification or ability to attain certification upon hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training in Vocational/Culinary Arts
Experience with the elderly
Cooking experience in a hospital, long-term care or medical facility
