Providence Health & Services Supervisor - Acute Laboratory *1.0/ Day *Up to $10,000 Hiring Bonus and Relocation Offered for Eligible Candidates* in Seward, Alaska

Providence is calling a Supervisor Laboratory (Acute Laboratory, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, supports and models team decisions. Anticipates and influences change using leadership principle. Builds trust and inspires teamwork. Recognizes and encourages staff to meet potential and to use their talents to achieve a common goal

  • Responsible for screening, interviewing, hiring, firing and counseling applicants. Reviews and revises job descriptions and job performance standards. Ensures personnel evaluations and job related education is completed on time. Mediate complex interpersonal challenges for job performance issues. Encourages employee self-development. Ensures that employees are qualified and competent

  • Consistently explain and applies department and hospital policies. Communicates with team members concerning memos, changes in procedures, policy or department trends. Directs the production of a current procedure manual

  • Develop indicators and measures performance. Reports and communicates information to other team members. Seeks input from customer groups as a first step in planning process. Serves as liaison for the Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC) based Laboratory, and Laboratory Medical Director, Providence Seward Medical and Care Center, PSMCC Medical Director and PSMCC Administration

  • Use customer input in budget planning process. Prepares budgets on time. reviews annual budgets with team. Anticipates and adjusts operating plans to meet medical center goal and initiatives. Monitors spending monthly. Shows responsibility toward cost containment and researches and evaluates outside services and/or equipment

  • Communicate with Business Services Manager regarding management of shared support functions. Maintains working relationships with other health system complimentary business lines. Maintains working relationships with other health system laboratory managers and participates in the system sponsored meetings and events. Develops and maintains working relationships with peers. Communicates with members of the healthcare team concerning patient status, diagnosis and related information. Uses critical thinking skills to resolve problems

  • Apply management principles to daily operations. Responsible for compliance with regulatory agency standards. Oversees personnel schedules. Approves PTO requests, other requests for time off and assigns overstaffing to meet budget and daily productivity. Oversees and assists with new employee orientatio

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or education and training equivalent to the requirements for a BS; or Rural Site Only: Meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for general supervisor

  • Current national certification such as Medical Technologist, American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification

  • 5 years Laboratory experience

  • May be required to travel and/or have diverse work schedule with irregular hours and days of work

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 3 years Experience in healthcare management
