Providence Health & Services Supervisor Security - Emergency Preparedness in Seward, Alaska

Providence is calling a Supervisor Security (Emergency Preparedness , Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week) to Providence Seward Medical Center in Seward, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Be responsible for direct supervision and management of Security personnel, primarily including but not limited to training, scheduling, and work coordination

  • Assist the Security Manager with staff evaluation and disciplinary actions and acts on behalf of the Manager in the absence of the Manager

  • Regularly inspects the buildings and grounds areas to assure conformance with established safety standards and regulations

  • Make recommendations regarding actions required to correct unsafe conditions

  • Assist fire and life safety fire prevention activities to include: fire extinguishers, fire inspections, and the coordination of fire drills and follow-up activities

  • Be responsible for the Lost and Found Department and records of same

  • Coordinate Hospital participation in activities involving external law enforcement agencies

  • Assist in confidential investigations as directed by the Security Manager

  • Support other members by the performance of other duties supporting hospital and departmental functions, including Nursing, Safety, Emergency Management, and Facilities

  • Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Obtain a valid Alaska driver's license in accordance with Alaska statute

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within the first year of employment, and maintained current thereafter

  • Taser Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment or in accordance with training schedule, and maintained annually thereafter

  • Four (4) years experience in Law Enforcement, Department of Corrections, Security or military

  • Demonstrated written communication skills

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills

  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Previous law enforcement training and supervisory experience - two of which is hospital related

  • Qualification in weaponry of various types, including handguns and chemical gasses
